SATURDAY, JAN. 18

• The Jackson County Voter’s League will present the Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King Luncheon 2020 at the Goose Pond Colony Clubhouse, beginning at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Katrina Moore Hughley. The clubhouse is located at 417 Ed Hembree  Drive in Scottsboro. Tickets are $10.

 

THURSDAY, JAN. 23

• The Senior Expo will be held at the Goose Pond Civic Center, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be food, door prizes, entertainment, various vendors and a shredder available until 1 p.m. Please bring a canned good to benefit Salvation Army’s Food Bank. Call 256-574-6733 for transportation.

•  The Jackson County Democratic Association will meet at Western Sizzlin, beginning at 6 p.m.

• Rosalie Community Center will host a political rally, beginning at 6 p.m. Speakers are asked to make at least a 10 donation to the community center, which is tax deductible. TUESDAY, FEB. 4

• Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro is offering a free childbirth education class, beginning at 6 p.m. The class will be held in the Highlands Education Center, located at the Harley Street entrance. Parents-to-be will learn important information like when to go the hospital, items to pack, ways to control pain, postpartum care and how to care for their baby when they get home.
