A Pisgah homeowner shot one of two men attempting to steal gasoline from the man’s shed.
Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, said the two men broke into the homeowner’s shed, on County Road 83, Monday night.
“The homeowner came out with a pistol and called us,” said Harnen. “He fired a few warning shots and was able to hold the two men on the ground until we got there.”
Harnen said one of the suspects got up and came at the man with a knife. The homeowner shot the suspect in the knee.
“The man was taken to Highlands Medical Center and then transferred to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga,” said Harnen.
The other suspect, Brandon Lynn Tinker, 34 of Pisgah, was charged with burglary third degree, theft third degree and using false identification to obstruct justice.
Tinker was taken to the Jackson County Jail, where he remained Tuesday.
Harnen said the man shot was not charged at this time.
“He will face charges later,” said Harnen.
