The Jackson County Commission’s joint town hall meeting with the Jackson County Legislative Delegation has been postponed. The meeting was supposed to take place Tuesday, July 16 at 6 p.m. at the Jackson County Courthouse.

The legislative delegation sent out a press release on Wednesday saying they were notified of the meeting through Facebook, and members of the delegation would be out of town attending prior obligations.

Commission Chairman Tim Guffey said Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Rick Roden has been the middle-man between Guffey and the delegation, and there was some miscommunication between the parties.

“It’s my mistake,” said Guffey. “But we’re working with (the delegation) now to set a date for this meeting.”

Guffey said he has no problem rescheduling the meeting, but he wants it to happen this month. He does not want to drag out the issue.

“I just want to get this thing done,” said Guffey. “If we can all get in one room, it’ll all come to light. There’s too much he said-she said stuff going on.”

No date and time has been set for the postponed town hall meeting.

Mr. Guffey must reevaluate his communicative style. Work toward resolution, not false accusations in the attempt to gain the upper hand, this is the position of a bully, not a leader. Examination of the financial status of the commission since FY 2012 regarding expenditures reveals a serious problem which must be addressed.
