ALDOT will be cleaning ditches and inspecting pipes on Alabama Highway 35, on Sand Mountain between Section and Scottsboro, next week.

ALDOT Public Relations Director Seth Burkett said the work will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and Thursday, Jan. 30, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Burkett said the work area is from approximately milepost 43 (near County Road 124/Scenic Drive, in the area where the two southbound lanes merge) to milepost 46 (just south of the Alabama Highway 40 intersection and the boat ramp).

Northbound traffic will be stopped at the top of the mountain and shuttled through the work area.

“Delays of about 10 minutes are expected for northbound traffic,” said Burkett. “Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, with no delays anticipated.”

Burkett said local traffic can take alternate routes such as Highway 40 and Alabama Highway 71 if they choose.
