Authorities continue searching for a Jackson County Jail inmate who walked away from a work detail Wednesday.
Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, said Jericho Tidwell, 30 of Scottsboro, escaped from the work detail at Stevenson City Park around 3 p.m.
“He had been working this detail for several weeks and was in jail for probation revocation,” said Harnen.
Harnen said deputies received information that Tidwell had talked to another man before he escaped.
“Deputies went to the man’s home on Vann Street in Scottsboro to talk to him,” said Harnen. “While they were there, they saw Tidwell run out the back door.”
Harnen said authorities gave chase, but Tidwell was able to escape.
In the meantime, Harnen said Richard Henry Hill, 43 of Scottsboro, was arrested after deputies found synthetic drugs in the home.
Hill was charged with possession of a controlled substance and hindering apprehension of an escapee. Hill remained in the Jackson County Jail Friday on a $10,300 bond.
Harnen said Friday morning that Tidwell remains at large. Harnen said Tidwell is 5’10 and around 150 pounds with brown shaved hair, hazel eyes and numerous tattoos including visible tattoos on his neck.
Anyone with information on Tidwell’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 256-574-2610.
