Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips said a South Pittsburg, Tennessee man has been charged in connection with the death of a Bridgeport woman last October.
David Corey Tipton, 40, was arrested early Thursday morning in South Pittsburg, said Phillips. He has been charged with manslaughter and is currently in the Jackson County Jail. His bond has been set at $50,000.
Phillips said Samantha Frison, 25 of Bridgeport, was killed last year after she was ran over by a vehicle.
“The initial call came in that she had been stabbed or cut and found on the side of the road in Bridgeport,” said Phillips.
Phillips said once it was discovered Frison was not stabbed, his office contacted the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to assist in the investigation.
Phillips said a Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Tipton in September.
“Reckless activity caused the death,” said Phillips.
