A substitute teacher in the Jackson County School System has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Wayland Andrew Hester, 49 of Pisgah, has been charged with four counts of possession of child pornography.

Jackson County Superintendent Kevin Dukes said the school system had been made aware of the situation involving Hester, who also serves as a volunteer coach.

“This individual has since been banned from all Jackson County property,” said Dukes.

Dukes said all background clearance and substitute licensing procedures were followed for Hester prior to working with Jackson County students.

Dukes declined to release any further details. The case is being investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
