A Jackson County Jail inmate is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a corrections deputy.

Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, said the incident occurred after inmates refused to lock down.

“Deputies brought food to the inmates,” said Harnen. “At that point, the jail cell is open. Two inmates refused to go back in their cell.”

Harnen said a deputy attempted to put one of the inmates back in the cell.

“The deputy was assaulted and punched in the face a few times,” said Harnen.

Harnen said Andrew Wade Mikail Lambert, 23 of Scottsboro, is now facing assault charges. Harnen said, prior to the incident, Lambert was in jail on probation revocation and theft first charges. He said Lambert also has charges in Georgia and Scottsboro.

“He has a lot of legal issues to take care of,” said Harnen. “Now, he has a few more.”

Harnen said the corrections deputy was treated and released from the hospital.
