Jackson County authorities are searching for an inmate, who escaped Sunday afternoon while working at Casa.

Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, said James Dustin Baker, 30 of Section, was serving as a trustee.

“He went to Casa’s storage unit, dropped his jail clothes, stole some clothes and departed,” said Harnen.

Harnen said Baker and other inmates had signed detail to work at Casa Sunday, helping unload items.

“He’s been a trustee several times,” said Harnen. “He’s never given any trouble.”

Harnen said Baker is around 5’10 and weighs 280 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes, a buzz haircut and no facial hair.

Harnen said Baker was currently in jail on several failure to appear and failure to pay charges.

Anyone with information on Baker’s location is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 256-574-2610.
