The Scottsboro High School football team’s Monday practice has been canceled for COVID-19 reasons, Scottsboro City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jose Reyes announced this morning.

Reyes announced on the Scottsboro City Schools Facebook page that a coach on the varsity football coaching staff has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

“Late yesterday evening (Sunday), we received confirmation that a coach on our Varsity football staff tested positive for COVID,” Reyes wrote in the Facebook post. “Currently, our Director of Student Support Services, High School Principal and administrative staff, and High School nurse are in the process of conducting contact tracing on behalf of our coaches and players using current COVID protocols. In order to assist in this process, Varsity football practice will be canceled for Monday, October the 19th. I will make further decisions once I obtain additional information as our staff works through the process today. I appreciate your continued support of our school system as together we move forward during these unprecedented times.”

The Wildcats are scheduled to play at Pell City on Friday.
