Scottsboro police arrested a county inmate, who had been on the run since last Wednesday, over the weekend.
Capt. Erik Dohring, of the Scottsboro Police Department, said officers arrested Jericho Tidwell, 30 of Scottsboro, after receiving information Saturday morning.
“Someone called and said a person had broken into a vacant dwelling,” said Dohring. “After officers arrived, they located [Tidwell] hiding inside.”
Tidwell was working at work detail at Stevenson City Park last Wednesday when he walked away from the site. Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, said Tidwell had been working at the site for several weeks while he was in jail on a probation revocation.
On Thursday, deputies arrested another man who had allegedly been in contact with Tidwell. Deputies went to a residence on Vann Street in Scottsboro after learning that Tidwell had talked to Richard Henry Hill, 43 of Scottsboro.
Harnen said when deputies arrived that Tidwell ran out the back door. Hill was charged with possession of a controlled substance after deputies located synthetic marijuana. He was also charged with hindering apprehension of an escapee.
Tidwell was placed in the Scottsboro City Jail on a charge of burglary third degree. He was later transferred to the Jackson County Jail. He is also facing escape charges.
