Author Lars Anderson will be at the Scottsboro Public Library Thursday, Oct. 3, signing his newest book, “Chasing the Bear: How Bear Bryant and Nick Saban Made Alabama the Greatest College Football Program of All Time.”

Famed author Lars Anderson will be in town Thursday with his newest book, “Chasing the Bear: How Bear Bryant and Nick Saban Made Alabama the Greatest College Football Program of All Time,” a newly published dual biography of Bear Bryant and Nick Saban, two coaching legends that built the Alabama Crimson Tide into a football dynasty.

Anderson, who spent 20 years at Sports Illustrated, is a New York Times best-selling author of seven books, including “The Storm and the Tide”, “Carlisle vs. Army” and “The All-Americans.”

Anderson is a senior writer at Bleacher Report and instructor of journalism at the University of Alabama.

“We are very excited to bring Lars Anderson to the Scottsboro Public Library,” said library director Laura Pitts. “Lars is a gifted writer, and we excited to have him share his talents with our community.”

Anderson will be at the Scottsboro Public Library Thursday, Oct. 6, beginning at 6 p.m. The program is free to the public. Books can be purchased either as a pre-sale or at the night of the event for $25. Pitts said books are available for purchase, first come, first serve.

“I have read the book, and I can assure anyone who is a fan of college football and the SEC that they will enjoy reading this book about the lives and coaching careers of Paul Bryant and Nick Saban,” said Pitts. “I know that the book is based on Alabama football, but if you are a football enthusiast then you will enjoy the book, I guarantee it.”

The Friends of the Scottsboro Public Library will provide food for the event.

“We are thankful for their assistance,” said Pitts.
