With the city of Scottsboro’s annual Christmas parade and Jingle Bell 5K race comes the closing of a major road in the city. Both the north and south bound lanes of Broad Street will be closed for the parade, and only the south bound lane of Broad Street will be closed for the 5K.

The parade and race will be this Saturday, Dec. 14. The Christmas parade will begin at 5 p.m., and the Jingle Bell 5K will start at 4 p.m. The parade will travel north from Collins Intermediate School to the downtown square. Both the north and south bound lanes of Broad Street will be closed during that time. The parade typically lasts about an hour.

The 5k race will begin at Scottsboro City Hall. Runners will travel south on Broad St. to Caldwell Park, then back north to City Hall from Pine Street on Broad Street using only south bound lanes. Only the south bound lanes of Broad St. will be closed during the run. Please use caution in the area between 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

City officials would like to inform citizens of alternate routes available to them during these events. Those alternate routes are Scott Street, Heroes Drive, Parks Avenue, Cedar Hill Drive, and Willow Street.

City officials also want to thank citizens for their patience during the temporary traffic adjustment.
