A Jackson County grand jury has indicted two people in connection with sexual abuse of a child under 12.

Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, said Danny Lee Sharp, 62 of Middleburg, Florida, and Connie Sue York Summerford, 52 of Flat Rock, have been charged in connection with the indictments.

“We took a report on Dec. 30, 2018 regarding the sexual abuse of a child,” said Harnen, who added the victim was six years old. “The allegations were presented to a grand jury.”

Harnen said the alleged crimes occurred in Flat Rock.

Assistant District Attorney Matt Mitchell said Sharp was indicted on one count of sodomy first degree, two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and two counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes. He added that Summerford was indicted for aiding and abetting the sexual abuse of a child under 12.

“She was present when Danny Sharp, her boyfriend, allegedly committed the act,” said Mitchell.

Sharp remained in the Jackson County Jail Monday afternoon on an $87,500 bond, while Summerford was released Friday on a $10,000 bond.
