Skyline High School Class of 2020
This week’s outstanding youth graduated from high school with honors and already has 38 hours in college credit. Chloe Putman is a member of Skyline High School’s Class of 2020.
Chloe will be attending Wallace State Community College in the dental assisting program. Her career goal in the field of dentistry is to become an orthodontist.
She is thankful that she had the opportunity to obtain college credit through the dual enrollment program at Northeast Alabama Community College.
This honor student served as the president of her senior class. She was a member of FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America), FFA (Future Farmers of America), and Senior Beta Club. She served as president of the Student Government Association her senior year. She was also the homecoming queen.
Chloe was awarded several scholarships including the Town of Skyline Scholarship, the Joyce Kennamer Scholarship, and the Timothy Mullican Scholarship. She also received the DAR Award.
“My senior year did not end the way I expected,” said Chloe. “I love school, and my class was so close. It was hard not being able to see them on a daily basis. It was upsetting not getting to do the ‘fun’ things like our field trips and fun days around the school. However, this gave me a chance to realize that we are never promised for things to go our way. Therefore, I enjoy every moment I can with the people I love, and I am so thankful that we all stayed in contact with each other and made the best of our senior year. Prom and graduation were more sentimental, and every moment we got together was a celebration!”
When this busy young lady has free time, she likes hanging out with her friends. She really enjoys cooking with her grandmother, Cindy Hollaway. Chloe likes to travel and one day hopes to see the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Chloe is the daughter of James Putman and Kim Pickett (step-dad Dan Pickett). She has one older brother, four younger brothers, and a younger sister. Her grandparents are Larry Putman, Faye and Bill Bates, and Cindy and James Hollaway.
Chloe says that the family has several pets including two dogs, a cat, and a goat farm. “We are always on our toes!” she adds.
She attends New Life Baptist Church on Crow Mountain.
