Since May 26, 2014, hungry guests have had a new place to enjoy a sit-down meal with budget friendly prices in Scottsboro – OH!Bryan’s Family Steak House.
Located on Broad St., OH!Bryan’s prides itself on good food, good service and what customers call the best steaks and catfish in town.
“We come here all the time,” said Tara Scheirer, local resident and mother of six. “It’s really good, the steaks are tender, well-cooked and seasoned just right.”
Her mom, Dixie Mitchell, agrees. “We used to drive all the way to the OH!Bryan’s in Huntsville before they came here. It’s well worth the drive. I love the steaks and the salad bar is my favorite. It’s always clean, fresh and there’s a large variety of choices.”
Scheirer’s youngest son, Mychail, is five years old and has a couple of menu favorites when he visits.
“I love the cheeseburgers,” he said with a big smile. “And I love the dessert.”
OH!Bryan’s is owned by Bryan and Valerie Hughes of Hartselle, Alabama.
Since 1994, the Hughes’ have opened a total of 13 stores and franchised their successful business. They currently own three of the uniquely decorated, casual steak houses. “Bryan is always looking for authentic memorabilia to display in the restaurants,” said Lauren Craig, manager of the Scottsboro location. “He collects metal lunch boxes with pictures of old television shows like ‘The Dukes of Hazzard,’ ‘Starsky and Hutch,’ and a number of other things that we display in the glass case above our salad bar. Customers love to look at them.
“He likes the way it brings back memories of childhood for them,” she said. “He and Valerie are great people to work for and they really want their customers to have an excellent experience each time they come to eat with us.”
Craig started out as a server in the u HHHuntsville location and has been with the company for six years. She recently married Brandon Craig, who also works at OH!Bryan’s preparing steaks and seafood just the way customers like it.
“We live in Madison,” she said, “so we commute to Scottsboro almost every day. I love the area and the people here are very nice and friendly.”
Besides juicy steaks and farm-raised catfish, OH!Bryan’s offers a large variety of menu items including fall-off-the bone ribs, center cut pork chops, blackened Chicken Alfredo and even baked sweet potatoes.
“Each day we offer lunch and dinner specials,” Craig said. “During the week, the lunch special begins at 11 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. It includes an entrée like our chicken tenders, burgers, or the Chicken Alfredo with a side and drink for just $5.49. OH!Bryan’s likes to offer value to our customers along with the great food and service they will find here.
“The lunch specials are very popular,” she continued. “At night, we do specials that include the salad bar and customers love that.”
The menu at OH!Bryan’s is always growing.
“One of our newest items is the Bistro Fillet,” Craig said. “It is two beef medallions that are seasoned and very tender. We do our house specials on that and it has become very popular with our guests.”
Although the eight-ounce Bistro fillet is new, it is the 10-ounce ‘Delmonico’ that remains the restaurant’s most popular dish.
“That is a delicious ribeye cooked to perfection and seasoned over an open flame,” she said. “It’s my absolute favorite thing on our menu. It’s so juicy and flavorful that you will just love it.”
Each day, OH!Bryan’s hand cuts their steaks and hand breads the flaky tender catfish.
“We have great catfish,” Craig said. “It’s called ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,’ and we serve it three different ways: blackened, lemon peppered or just deep fried. It comes in whole fillets or boneless.
“We also offer ribs, chicken and some of the best desserts in town,” she said. “We have fried cheesecake, fried apple pie, strawberry shortcake, brownie Sundaes and fried sweet potatoe pie.
“Our desserts are huge and big enough to share,” she said. “I love the fried cheesecake the best. It’s a large slice of creamy cheesecake wrapped in a flour tortilla and deep-fried. We surround it with mounds of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, drizzle on some chocolate syrup and caramel and then sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar. It will melt in your mouth and it’s only $3.99.”
OH!Bryan’s is open Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday – Saturday, 11 a.m.- 9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
“We have a large banquet room that seats 40 people and it is available free-of-charge to our dining customers,” Craig said. “We are happy to reserve the room for you if you call ahead and welcome everyone to come enjoy a meal with us.”
To-go orders are also available by calling 256-999-0299.
“We look forward to serving the Scottsboro area,” Craig said. “So far, they have really embraced us and customer base is growing every day. We work hard to make sure our food, our value and our service gives customers just what they are looking for each time they visit with us.”
