MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Department of Senior Services is now accepting nominations for the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, but the deadline is quickly approaching.  The deadline to nominate a deserving senior is Friday, June 15.

Awards are presented to individuals age 60 and over who have contributed significantly to the lives of older Alabamians. In addition to being inducted into the Hall of Fame, there are several categories in which individuals can be recognized, including: Humanitarian, Religion, Statesman, Health Professional, Journalism and Educator among others.

The Hall of Fame also recognizes individuals who are 100 years of age or older and couples who have been married 65 years or more.

Award recipients will be honored at a ceremony in Montgomery on Sunday, Aug. 5.
