The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is teaming up with the Alabama Department of Public Health, physicians and several local organizations to bring about awareness to prostate cancer. This year’s theme is “Help us Create a Buzz about Blue.”

Dr. Michael Simmons will conduct a prostate cancer awareness seminar for Jackson County on Friday, June 22, at the Scottsboro Senior Center in Jackson County Park, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men in the United States and claims almost 30,000 lives each year in the US. Prostate cancer can affect men of all ages.

The seminar is open to the public (18 and older). The clinics are free. To register,  please call 256-574-2143 or 256-503-8021 by June 18.
