The Lady Tigers picked up a key district win over South Pittsburg on Jan. 15. Both teams fought hard, but Whitwell came out on top 41-36.

Whitwell dominated the first quarter in front of a home crowd. They scored 18 points and held South Pittsburg to nine.

The Lady Tigers increased their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Pirates 9-6.

Whitwell went into the halft up 27-15.

The Lady Pirates tried to mount a comeback in the second half.

South Pittsburg outscored the Lady Tigers 12-6 in third quarter to cut their deficit to only six points going into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Pirates put nine points on the board in the fourth quarter, but Whitwell’s eight points were enough to secure the win.

Emily Brown led the Lady Tigers with 13 points.

Senecca Barnett had eight points. Ally Grayson and Riley Hicks both had six points each. Abbi Cartwright and Hadee Headrick both had four points each.

Lorence Bradford led the Lady Pirates with 16 points.

Olivia Cagle and Kate Hill both had six points each. Ashley Green had four points and Cierra Moore had two points.
