Last week, elders at The Bridge prepared notes of encouragement for Blessing Bags for the homeless.

Local resident Renee Dykes who hosts a food drive every winter for the underprivileged, came across some homeless folks during the recent bitterly cold days, and she knew she had to help.

“It broke my heart,” said Dykes.

Dykes, along with members of her ‘We are Family Auction’ Facebook group, got together with other community members and gathered necessities for Blessing Bags containing warm clothing, toiletries and personal items to be given to the homeless.

Renee Taylor, Quality of Life Director at the Bridge, mentioned the efforts to the Bridge residents. In addition to helping collect items for the Blessing Bags, Elders stepped in and prepared handmade words of encouragement for the recipients of the bags.
