The South Pittsburg Lady Pirates’ basketball team took down Marion County for a rival win on Jan. 5. Both teams fought hard, but South Pittsburg came out on top 50-43.

South Pittsburg came out gunning. They put 17 points on the board and held Marion County to seven in the first quarter.

The Lady Warriors fought back in the second. They scored 15 points and held South Pittsburg to seven during that quarter.

The Lady Pirates went into the half with a narrow 24-22 lead.

Both teams jockeyed for the lead in the third quarter. South Pittsburg scored 14 points, but Marion kept it close by scoring 12.

The Lady Pirates secured the win in the fourth quarter, outscoring Marion County 12-9.

Lorence Bradford led South Pittsburg with 19 points.

Cierra Moore had eight, Olivia Cagle had seven, Ashley Green had seven, Kate Hill had six and Sierra Rector had three.

Amy Webb led the Lady Warriors with 18 points.

Sara Muir had 10 and Caroline Rash had eight. Chloe Gregory and Ashton McGrew both had three points each and Kia Price chipped in one point.
