Two Skyline women were arrested Monday after allegedly leaving an eight-month-old child unattended inside a vehicle.
Sgt. Scott Hamilton, of the Scottsboro Police Department, said officers responded to a citizen’s call at Walmart regarding the child.
“Officers responded and observed the vehicle not running and locked,” said Hamilton. “The child was crying inside.”
Hamilton said the temperature was around 89 degrees at the time.
“Officers gained access inside the vehicle by breaking a window,” said Hamilton.
Hamilton said officers determined the child was left unattended in the vehicle approximately 15 minutes before they arrived.
“The child was treated by medical personnel and, thankfully, is doing fine,” he said.
Angela Marie Dobbins, 46, and Anita Jean Dobbins, 19, both of Skyline, were charged with reckless endangerment. Both suspects were taken to Scottsboro City Jail, where they were later released on bond.
Hamilton said the Department of Human Resources (DHR) placed the child in temporary care, pending their investigation.
