Spay Neuter Jackson County is hosting silent auction at The Pond in Scottsboro on July 27. Early bird bidding will begin at noon, and the silent auction festivities will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This is Spay Neuter Jackson County’s first silent auction fundraiser, sponsored by Maples Industries. All of the proceeds will go to the organization’s low-income voucher program to help Jackson County residents spay and neuter their pets. Live entertainment will be provided by The Night Birds. There will be happy hour specials, chips and homemade salsa, and people will be able to order from the menu. Bidding closes at 7:45.

Some of the items being auctioned are restaurant gift cards, movie tickets, original artwork, Dollywood passes, a Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrel, concert tickets, a painting of BB Comer Bridge by local artist John Warr and many other items.

A small group of Jackson Co residents formed Spay Neuter Jackson County in early 2017. It is headed by Scottsboro Animal Control Officer Heather Carlin who sees the weekly euthanizing of healthy dogs and cats at the shelter and knows how bad a low cost spay and neuter program is needed in Jackson County.

In just 2½ years, Spay Neuter Jackson County has helped over 950 pets get spayed and neutered and obtain a rabies vaccine through their programs. If anyone is interested in their programs, call them at 256-299-9726, visit their website or email People
