The local chapter of Jackson County Habitat for Humanity is throwing a party to help raise money to benefit a new Habitat homeowner and her two sons.

A BBQ lunch and silent auction will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Warehouse 207, located at 207 West Willow Street in Scottsboro.

The money raised will get the home completed and get the family settled.

“We have held the Chili Challenge for the last several years in February,” said Habitat Board President Tony Grantham. “We think it’s time for an event that is held during the summer months when people are getting out and enjoying Labor Day weekend.”

Grantham said BBQ plates will be $10, and you can enjoy great live music and a silent auction.

“You can also pick up your meals and take them home to share with your family,” he said. “Our very popular ‘Country Store’ will also be open for folks that enjoy flea market finds.”

The silent auction will have something for everyone. There will be trips, many great home items, services, tools and toys donated by local businesses and individual supporters of Habitat.

Some of the finest cooks in town have donated beautiful cakes and cookies that you can bid on and take home for that Labor Day picnic.
