Jackson County Commissioner Danny Rich has been elected to serve as a member of the 2021-2022 Legislative Committee of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA), the statewide association representing Alabama’s 67 county governments.

“I am honored to have been elected to serve as a member,” said Rich. “I have been privileged to serve Jackson County since elected in 2018 to the Jackson County Commission.”

The Association’s Legislative Committee is composed of a chairman and a representative from each county. Rich will represent the interests of Jackson County on the committee and work in concert with six steering committees to formulate the association’s legislative agenda for the 2022 regular session of the Alabama Legislature.

“We have made a great deal of progress, and I look forward to continue to serve Jackson County on a statewide level,” said Rich. “We are currently facing unprecedented challenges, and I am dedicated to working together towards solutions that are beneficial to all.”

ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield said counties are a creation of the state, which means they can only do what the state authorizes them to do.

“For this reason, counties must maintain an incredibly close working relationship with the Legislature, which is why serving on this committee is a tremendous honor and responsibility,” added Brasfield.
