Toros Cantina and Grill has been open for about four weeks, and manager Adrian Lopez said that business has been great.

Lopez said he and his business partners had been looking for a place in Scottsboro for a while, and they took the opportunity when it was presented to them.

He said Scottsboro was a beautiful place and a great town. He wants to bring an authentic Mexican restaurant atmosphere and Hispanic heritage to Toros Cantina and Grill. Lopez said he can have a great business if he and the staff can keep their heads together and continue to serve great good and have excellent service.

Lopez believes in having a good atmosphere and good service at Toros Cantina and Grill. He realizes other Mexican restaurants in town have that too, and he said great restaurants breed great competition.

Lopez has nothing but respect for those businesses because he knows how difficult it is to run a business. He said Toros Cantina and Grill can do its best to serve great food and have a friendly staff, but Lopez knows there is always room for improvement.

“I love to hear criticism because that’s how we’re going to improve,” said Lopez. “It is important for me to know that our customers will leave happy and continue to come back.”

Lopez said the food at Toros Cantina and Grill is the same type of food at any Mexican restaurant, but with a little different touch. He said they use a few more spices, and they try to make the food a little closer to authentic Mexican food. Lopez said they have sold a great deal of steaks since opening the restaurant. Ha called Scottsboro a “steak town” and said the people here love their steaks. He also said they have sold many fajitas and chimichangas.

Lopez mentioned some unique items on the menu as well, like the Nacho Toros and the Toros Sampler. Nacho Toros are nachos topped with grilled chicken, steak strips, shrimp, ham, chorizo and cooked with onions, bell peppers and tomatoes smothered with cheese sauce.

The Toros Sampler comes with beef nachos, chicken nachos, beef and chicken flautas, beef and chicken taquitos and beef and chicken quesadillas. Toros Cantina and Grill has everything from tacos to burritos to hamburgers. It even has a vegetarian section on the menu. Toros also offers a lunch buffet Sunday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Toros Cantina and Grill also has a full bar, and it will open a patio in the spring. Lopez said it will be decorated, and they will have live music outside on the patio.

Lopez said originally, they had a different name in mind for the restaurant. The previous owners had put bulls outside of the restaurant, and Lopez wanted to remove them.

When it came time to get rid of the bulls, they realized the bulls were full of concrete. Lopez said they were not going anywhere, and they decided to name the restaurant Toros.

Toros Cantina and Grill is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Check them out at 3311 South Broad Street in Scottsboro. Follow Toros Cantina and Grill on Facebook and Instagram. For to go orders, call 256.999.0086
