On Aug. 31, Main Street Scottsboro will be hosting a Movie on the Square night. The movie is Facing the Giants and will begin at 7 p.m.

The movie is open to the public and will be held outside on the courthouse lawn. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Meg Nippers, events and marketing coordinator for the city of Scottsboro, said, “It has been more than a year since the last movie night on the square, so we are so excited to bring this fun event back to Downtown Scottsboro,” and that the Movie on the Square night will, “add to the excitement [of Labor Day Weekend].”

Main Street Scottsboro wants to extend a special word of thanks to the First United Methodist Church’s United Methodist Men who are sponsoring the event.

Labor Day First Monday Trade Day Weekend. The public restroom normally used on the northwest corner, outside access, is closed due to structural collapse in that area of the courthouse - falling tile and ceiling structure, buckling floor due to collapsing ground due to wall weight, cracking walls, and separating wall structures immediately south of the restroom. Porta-toilets will be available in the parking lot next to the post office and the south parking lot up from the bakery. Bring handi-wipe disinfectant towelettes for your children and personal use as their is no hand washing facility.
