Replica ships passed through Scottsboro Tuesday.

Two replicas of the ships (the Nina and the Pinta) that carried Christopher Columbus across the Atlantic for the first time passed through Scottsboro on the Tennessee River Tuesday afternoon.

The ships had been docked in Guntersville since Aug 16.  These ships service as floating museums that make stops in 30-40 cities a  year.

The Nina is an exact replica of the original ship while the Pinta is slightly larger than the original.

Columbus also had a third ship named the Santa Maria, but it was a much larger ship and the ports the Nina and Pinta visit could not accommodate a ship as large as the Santa Maria therefore, a replica was never produced.

The next port stop on the tour is Lenoir City, Tennessee, but if you missed the chance to see the ships this time, they will be back in Rogersville on Oct. 30- Nov. 3.
