Posted: Thursday, November 8, 2018 8:19 am

A strong EF1 tornado touched down early Tuesday morning in the Aspel community just outside of Scottsboro. The storm tracked just north of Highway 72 from Aspel toward Scottsboro. Wind speeds topped out around 105 miles per hour over a path less than four miles long according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

According to Jackson County Emergency Management Agency Director, Felix Jackson, no one was injured during the storm. There was damage to houses, a church, and some debris in the area. Jackson said Jackson County Public Works went out to clean up the debris as soon as they could.
