USG Corporation’s Bridgeport plant donated 14,302 pounds of food and other supplies to local food banks including the Bridgeport First Baptist Church Food Pantry in the company’s sixth annual donation drive. Over the last six years, the plant has donated to local food banks in Marion County, TN and Jackson County, AL, for a total of 82,639 pounds.
“We’re a proud member of this community and honored to give back to our neighbors this way,” said Matt Taylor, USG Bridgeport plant manager. “Our annual donation drive is just one example of how we live our core values of integrity, service and diversity.”
Employees of the Bridgeport Plant collected food at local grocery stores, set up collection boxes at several local businesses and solicited donations from their suppliers and other business partners.
USG’s Bridgeport plant opened in 1999. In addition to the donation drive, USG and its employees support Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army Angel Tree, and the Bridgeport middle school backpack program.
Across North America, USG plants collected 290,000 pounds of non-perishable food, hygiene items, school supplies and other donations for local food banks, shelters and schools this year. USG plants have donated more than one million pounds of food and supplies over the last six years.
