Prestridge will begin his tenure at Pisgah on Monday, May 6. He is currently the principal at Radney Elementary School in Alexander City.
Prestridge is originally from Hazel Green. He attended Jacksonville State University, and he began his career in education in Tallapoosa County. Prestridge received his PhD in Educational Leadership from Auburn University. He is currently in his thirteenth year in education.
Prestridge said that he is ready to come to Jackson County. He said that he is excited to be in a successful situation and in a great place at Pisgah. He said that Pisgah is already a great school, and he is excited to be a small part of that great situation.
“God opens doors, and He opened this door for my family and I,” said Prestridge.
He said that he was excited to be able to move closer to his family. He also said that he thinks he will be a good fit at Pisgah. His immediate goal is to come in and get to know everyone.
He wants to learn about the culture and community of Pisgah. Prestridge said that building relationships with students, teachers, and the community is his top priority. He said that Pisgah is a great school, but there is always a way to improve. He said that searching for ways to improve would be his long-term focus.
County School Superintendent Kevin Dukes said that the hiring committee was very impressed with Dr. Prestridge.
“His data driven style and community focus will benefit the students and community of Pisgah,” said Dukes. “He has experience at various levels which is needed in the K-12 setting.”
