The Ben Sanford Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama is putting on its inaugural Christmas Concert and Dinner on Dec. 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsboro.
Boys and Girls Club Director James Allen said they had been talking about having a concert for quite some time. There were talks of having a fall concert, but they decided to go with the Christmas concert.
The Christmas concert and dinner will also serve as a fundraising event for the Ben Sanford Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama. The funds raised at the concert and dinner will go towards the purchase of games, cleaning supplies and possible trips for the Boys and Girls Club choir.
They will be selling Christmas dinner plates that will include a choice of Honey Baked Ham or Honey Baked Turkey with dressing, green beans, a variety of casseroles, rolls and dessert. The cost is $8 per plate.
He said the Boys and Girls Club choir has been singing at events around the city for about seven years. They sing at churches, basketball games and a number of other places.
“We appreciate the public’s support of the concert and the Boys and Girls Club, and the kids are looking forward to showcasing their talent at the concert,” said Allen.
Boys & Girls Clubs in communities across North Alabama provide a safe place to go after school and during the summer for youth ages 5-18. They fill the gap between school and home with life-changing programs, experiences and mentorship programs that focus on three core areas of development: academic success, healthy lifestyles, character and citizenship.
The Ben Sanford Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama’s mission is to strive to provide a world-class club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through its doors.
