Due to the team efforts of a group of dedicated education professionals at the Jackson County Board of Education, the county school system has been awarded a federal grant, which targets improving the mental health of children and adolescent.  This grant is in the amount of $360,000 annually for five years.

Rhonda Wheeler, director of student services, is excited about the possibilities this grant holds for the students in the Jackson County School System.  This puts Jackson County on the cutting edge of a movement soon to go statewide that is dedicated to the social and emotional needs of students.  Wheeler, Debbie McRae, and Robert Pritchett are the committee members who worked on the grant.
