Scottsboro pair arrested in major drug case in Tennessee

Posted: Thursday, January 3, 2019 8:47 am

Two Scottsboro residents face major drug charges following a New Year's Eve bust at a Newport, Tennessee motel.

Newport Police Chief J. Maurice Shults said he was checking the Best Western Inn on Cosby Highway when he observed a black Mitsubishi Lancer backed to the curb at one of the rooms. The trunk of the vehicle was open, and when Chief Shults ran the tag through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), the tag had been reported stolen in Chattanooga. Chief Shults set up surveillance and observed the vehicle for some time, learning the room had been rented to Ryan Wilson,32, who recently had been living in Nashville.
