The Jackson County Commission is hosting a community meeting at the Bryant Jr. High School gym on Aug. 12.
Commission Chairman Tim Guffey said the meeting was requested by the citizens of the area so they could discuss County Road 93. The road has been closed since late February, when floods caused a mountain slide that damaged the road.
Several citizens from the area have attended commission meetings to express their concerns about the closed roadway.
Guffey said the goal of the meeting was to let the people air their grievances, and for the commission to let them know why the county is in the situation they are in.
“We’re going to let them vent and say what they need to say,” said Guffey.
Guffey said there was no timetable for when County Road 93 will be repaired and reopened.
He said the commission may try to start doing more community meetings if this one is a success. Guffey said he enjoys holding community meetings, and he would not care to have one in a different location once a month.
