A Scottsboro man is in jail after police received calls of a man acting strange walking down South Houston Street.

Sgt. Scott Hamilton, of the Scottsboro Police Department, said officers made contact with Jonathon Paul Corbitt, 42 of Scottsboro. Hamilton said Corbitt ran down the street after talking with officers.

“They pursued him on foot on Houston Street before eventually catching him,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton said one of the officers suffered minor injuries during the chase and attempt to arrest Corbitt.

Corbitt has been charged with assault second degree, public intoxication, attempting to elude a police officer and resisting arrest.

He was taken to the Scottsboro City Jail before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail. Corbitt remained in jail Friday on a $10,900 bond.
