EPCOT Student of the Month

Skyline High School sophomore Luke West has been named the EPCOT Student of the Month.

A Skyline High School sophomore has been selected as the first Student of the Month at EPCOT (Earnest Pruitt Center of Technology) for this year. 

Luke West was chosen as the August Student of the Month.

West is a student in the precision machining department.  He has only been doing this for a month but has already become an outstanding student. 

His instructors say that Luke is willing to put the time in to make sure his work is accurate. One of the instructors said, “Be on the watch for Luke West.  I have a feeling we will be hearing a lot more about him in the near future.”

This dedicated student is a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America) and Skills USA.  As a member of Skyline High School’s Math Team, West placed in the top ten during the annual Jackson County Math Competition.  He has been recognized for excellence in math and English.

West says that math is his favorite school subject. 

“I like to use the numbers,” he adds.

Despite being only a tenth grader, Luke has already thought about his life after high school.  He wants a career in a machine shop.

West attends Pleasant Grove Holiness Church.  He volunteers for many church activities and cleans the church several times each week.

When he has free time, this busy teen enjoys playing video games. He also likes playing sports outside as well as playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends.  West plays the bass guitar.

The son of Erin and Nick West, he has two older brothers.  hey are Caleb and Wyatt. 

His grandparents are Mickey and Sharon West and Donna Buckner. 

He has a dog named Wila.
