Jackson County DHR is set to move into Brownwood Elementary School on Oct. 1, and the Scottsboro City Schools Board of Education is getting ready for the move.
At its regular meeting on Wednesday afternoon, the board approved bids for painting, carpet, installation and base molding for the leased portion of Brownwood.
The bid for painting was awarded to Oakley’s Painting and Remodeling in Florence for $39,200. The bid for carpet, installation and base molding was awarded to Kimberly Ann’s Flooring for $62,276.50. DHR will reimburse the school system for these costs.
The board also approved a memorandum of understanding for the school resource officer program. Superintendent Dr. Jay Reyes said the school system will begin advertising the positions as soon as possible. The plan is to hire two retired police officers to work at Collins Intermediate School and at Nelson Elementary School.
The board also approved several personnel items on the agenda. It approved the transfer of Derek Borum from science teacher to history teacher at Scottsboro Junior High School It approved the employment of Haley Anderson and Micah Bass as itinerant instructional assistants and Charles Little ad custodian at Collins Intermediate School.
It also approved the resignations of Amy Hardin as itinerant instructional assistant, Cynthia Harrison as bus driver and Stacey Young as Child Nutrition program worker at Collins Intermediate School.
