Descendants of the Parks/Snodgrass family recently held a family reunion in Scottsboro.

Members of the family came from Ohio to Texas to spend time together and reminisce and explore information about the past.

While this group was in Scottsboro, they were given a tour of the Scottsboro-Jackson Heritage Center and Sagetown as well as had an opportunity to peruse some of the historical documents relating to these two families.

The Heritage Center genealogical resources include books written about the Parks/Snodgrass family that contains information from historical documents dating back to as early as 1826.

While at the Heritage Center, Director Jennifer Petty shared with the group information about the new 3,000 square foot addition that will be added, funded by the city of Scottsboro and donations.

The members of the Parks/Snodgrass family were excited to join in the fundraising efforts and committed to help see this addition come to completion.

While in Scottsboro, the group was also given a tour of the Scottsboro Depot Museum by Jackson County Historical Association and Jackson County Chronicles editor Annette Bradford, who presented an informative program on the history of the depot as well as details about the various Parks/Snodgrass family members and their association with the depot.

Family members also visited the downtown square and Cedar Hill Cemetery, where they cleaned the graves of John Will Parks Sr. and Margaret Snodgrass Parks.
