One of two kidnapping suspects, currently in the Jackson County Jail, is facing additional charges in DeKalb County.

Mark Alan Byers, 51 of Henagar and Jerry Clayton Grider, 43 of Fort Payne, have both been charged after allegedly kidnapping a 49-year-old Rosalie man. The victim was taken from his residence on County Road 660 in Rosalie to a residence on Moses Drive in Henagar.

Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips said the victim was tied up and put in a van. He was able to escape last Friday morning and made contact with a neighbor who contacted authorities.

Later Friday, DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said a search warrant was obtained for the residence in Henagar. Investigators in Jackson County and DeKalb County found methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription medications and drug paraphernalia during the search, said Welden.

Byers and Grider are both charged with kidnapping first degree, burglary first degree and assault second degree.

In addition, Byers is facing additional charges in DeKalb County of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Byers and Grider both remain in the Jackson County Jail on $100,000 bond.
