Ferg's Pizza

Jim Ferguson moved to Stevenson in February, and opened Ferg’s Pizza Bar in September.

Ferg’s Pizza Bar has only been open for a few weeks, but owner Jim Ferguson says the business is booming.

Ferguson and his wife, Tamara, moved to the area in February. His job transferred him, and he runs the medical clinic at the Google project in Bridgeport. The couple is from Florida, and they liked this area so much that they decided to make it their home.

Ferguson said they have always had a restaurant wherever they have been. In Florida, the two had a Jamaican restaurant. When they moved to Stevenson, they realized there were not many places to grab a bite to eat. Ferguson found out about the vacant space in Stevenson, and his first intention was to open a bar and grill.

The owner told him about the pizza oven in the restaurant. He said that Tamara is very familiar with running pizza places, so he ultimately decided to open a pizza bar.

Ferguson said they make the dough for pizza fresh every day, and they only use top of the line ingredients to make their pizza. He said the biggest draw to Ferg’s Pizza Bar is the lunch buffet. The buffet is available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

It has pizza, pasta, salad, dessert and chicken fingers or some other specialty item. All pizzas are 16-inch pies, but Ferguson is planning on introducing a 12-inch pie. Ferg’s Pizza Bar has specialty pizzas like mountains of meat, supreme, Hawaiian, cheese and pepperoni lovers and vegetable pizza.

The restaurant has spaghetti or ziti dinners, chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan and lasagna. Ferg’s Pizza Bar has calzones and stromboli. It has ham and cheese, Italian, Philly cheese steak and chicken parmesan subs.

It also offers wings with hot, mild, BBQ, garlic parmesan and teriyaki sauce. Ferguson said he went through 280 pounds of wings in 5 days. Ferg’s Pizza also has bread sticks, garlic knots, mozzarella sticks, zeppola and cinnamon knots. The restaurant has burgers and chicken fingers as well.

“Everyone needs to come give us a try,” said Ferguson. I think they’ll really love the restaurant.”

Ferguson already has plans for expansion. He plans on opening a bakery right beside the restaurant to sell donuts, cookies, brownies and other sweet treats. He will also have a full liquor bar and plans on expanding the bar if need be. He said there is still work to do, but he is happy with the success he has had so far.
