Name – Michelle Hastings

Grade - Senior

School – Skyline High School

A young lady who has become a leader and already has plans for her future is this week’s outstanding youth.  Michelle Hastings is a senior at Skyline High School.

Michelle has been an active member of FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) during her high school years.  She currently serves this group as president. Prior to that role, Michelle was the group’s parliamentarian for three years. 

 “Being in FCCLA is how I have become a leader,” says Michelle. “It has helped me grow.”

Michelle is also a member of the FFA (Future Farmers of America).  She received a math award for geometry.

Ag is Michelle’s favorite school subject.  “I love working with my hands on projects,” she adds.

This young lady is active in the community.  She has accumulated over 30 community service hours.  She has worked with Backpack Buddies at Skyline High School and Jacob’s Well, the community food bank.

Michelle plans to go to Northeast Alabama Community College after high school where she will study criminal justice.  She wants to become a police officer and later a detective. 

Attending the Police Academy is also something she plans for her career.

In addition to her academic and club work at Skyline High School, Michelle has a part-time job.  She is a cashier at Stop to Save.

Michelle likes to hang out with her friends and family.  She also enjoys playing video games.

 The daughter of Danny and Cindy Hastings, Michelle has two older siblings.  They are Daniel and Stephanie. Her grandfather is James Hastings.  She has a dog named Marley.
