James William Owen passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the age of 82.

James was born in August 1937 in Maury County, Tennessee. He was the youngest child to Edward and Katie Owen. In December 1956, he married Beverly Grooms, and they raised three children.

James was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a skilled electrician, and he was an ordained minister. He was a caring, creative and generous man who had great compassion for others. He loved to read and do carpentry work and was always ready to help whenever someone needed his assistance.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his three children, Sandra (David), Julie (Mike) and James (Renee); his grandchildren, Jessie, Lauren, Alex, Nathan and Sara and his great grandchildren, Braden, Griggs, Colton, Lucy and Owen.

He is also survived by his brother, Philip Owen and sisters, Jean Logue and Joann Walden.

Funeral services were held on July 21, 2020 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Nathan Owen officiating. Burial was held in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
