SAND ROCK — The Section football team fell behind in the opening quarter after two Sand Rock scores and couldn’t recover in a 35-0 Class 2A Region 8 loss Friday night.

Section (1-6, 1-4) was limited to 214 total yards by Sand Rock (4-3, 2-2), which snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jace Holcomb led the Lions in rushing with 53 yards on 20 carries and JR Walker ran for 34 yards on eight carries while Ethan Franks had a 22-yard carry and Drake McCutchen had 19 yards on four carries. Holcomb also completed 3-of-9 passes for 60 yards with Kaden Bradford had two catches for 50 yards and Walker had one catch for 10 yards.

Defensively, Luke McKee finished with six tackles and Dylan Rider had five.

Ethan Clanton ran for 63 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries for Sand Rock while Ian Clanton and Banks Alexander had one rushing touchdown each. Lee threw for 145 yards on 11-of-17 passing and one score. The Wildcats had 436 total yards.
