The Scottsboro varsity girls basketball team opened the second half of the 2021-22 season on a winning note.

The Wildcats went on the road and posted a 47-35 victory over former area rival Brewer Tuesday night in Florette.

It was the fifth win in the last six games for Scottsboro (10-7).

The Wildcats led 16-13 after one quarter and 21-17 at halftime before stretching its lead to 33-22 after three quarters.

Jadaya Edmondson led Scottsboro with 13 points while Audrey Holland netted 12, Adair Holland had eight and Lexie Bennett had six.

Hope West scored a game-high 21 points for Brewer (4-15).

Section 42, Whitesburg Christian 29 — At Huntsville, the Lions completed a season sweep of fellow Class 2A foe Whitesburg Christian Tuesday night.

Section (7-12) held Whitesburg Christian to just seven first-half points, leading 17-7 at halftime before carrying a 27-18 lead into the fourth quarter.

Savannah White scored 11 points and Madison Armstrong netted 10 for Section, which got six each from Taylor Bell and Kenleigh Owens and four each from Savannah Key and Taegan Whitmire.

Morgan Alley scored 13 points for Whitesburg Christian (1-14).

Susan Moore 61, Skyline 42 — At Susan Moore, the Class 1A No. 1-ranked Vikings fell to 3A No. 3 Susan Moore Tuesday night.

Skyline (13-5) trailed 8-5 after one quarter, 21-16 at halftime and 37-28 after three quarters.

Blakely Stucky scored 12 points for Skyline, which also got eight from Kaina King, seven from Gracie Rowell, six from Lexie Stucky, five from Brinlee Potts and four from Kenzie Manning.

Cali Smallwood scored a game-high 31 points for Susan Moore (14-2).

St. John Paul II 49, NSM 35 — At Higdon, third-quarter struggles doomed North Sand Mountain against visiting Class 4A St. John Paul II Tuesday night.

NSM (6-9) led 11-9 after one quarter and 20-19 at halftime, but the Falcons outscored NSM 18-6 in the third quarter to carry a 37-26 lead into the final frame.

Kayden Reyes scored 11 points for NSM while Kolbie Bobo and Madison Renfro netted eight each and Ashley Shrader added six.

Ashlyn Plott scored 18 points and Abigail Lane netted 12 for St. John Paul II (11-6).

Fort Payne 63, North Jackson 28 — At Stevenson, visiting Fort Payne outscored the Chiefs 14-3 in the second quarter to build a double-digit lead on the way to the win Tuesday night.

North Jackson (1-12) trailed just 18-12 after one quarter before the Class 6A Wildcats stretched their lead to 32-15 at halftime. Fort Payne led 48-22 after three quarters.

Tyra Smith led North Jackson with seven points and Arielle Haynes netted six while Yesenia Delgado and Sarah Garner scored four each.

Leading scorers for Fort Payne (15-6) were Lydia Crane with 18 points, Brylan Gray with 16 and Gradin Hass with 12.
