The Northeast Alabama Community College men’s golf team posted solid scores during an out-of-state match.
NACC dropped a 36-hole match to host Georgia Northwestern Technical College of Rome, Georgia on Tuesday at the Lafayette Golf Club in Lafayette, Georgia.
The Mustangs shot a two-round 639 while Georgia Northwestern shot a 602. NACC shot a 313 in the opening round before shooting a 326 in Round 2.
“We played well,” NACC head coach Darrell Kirk said.
NACC’s Ethan Everett shot an even-par 72 in the first round, the lowest round for a Mustang golfer during the fall season thus far. He was one of only two golfers for either team to shot par or better on Tuesday. Everett carded an 8-over par 80 in the second round and closed with a two-round score of 152.
Caleb Little shot a first-round 3-over par 75 and a second-round 9-over 81 to close at 156 for the Mustangs while Trevor Gibson shot an 80-85-165, Hunter Hill an 86-83-169, Cory Guffey a 92-82-174 and Austin Webb an 89-91-180.
The teams will match up again at the end of the month, playing a pair of 18-hole matches at Dogwood Hills Golf Resort and Gardens in Flat Rock on Oct. 29 and the Goose Pond Lake Course in Scottsboro on Oct. 30. NACC’s women’s team will play Marion Military Institute on those days as well.
