The Scottsboro wrestling team hosted its annual Scottsboro Duals on Thursday at Carter Gymnasium.

During competition, Scottsboro posted a 42-5 win over St. John Paul II-Catholic while suffering a 40-39 loss to Huntsville on a tiebreaker method. Other scores for Scottsboro from the tournament were not available at press time Friday.

Against SJPII, Scottsboro's Mason McKenzie posted a win via pin in the 106-pound weight class, as did Owen Gallagher at 132, Kolton Clark at 170, Maji Billingsley at 182 and Sean McAlpin at 220. Clinton Stewart at 113 and Aaron Clark at 120 picked up a wins via forfeit.

Against Huntsville, the match ended tied 39-all, but Huntsville was awarded the win via Tiebreaker H (most first points).

Scottsboro wrestlers winning via pin against Huntsville were McKenzie at 106, John McAlpin at 126, Connor Calfee at 152, Billingsley at 182 and Sean McAlpin at 195. Damian Ramirez won a 4-2 decision at 160 while Clark picked up a forfeit win at 170.

Next up for Scottsboro is the Class 1A-5A Region Duals at Arab Junior High on Friday, Dec. 29. 

The region champion and runner-up both advance to the AHSAA's Dual State Playoffs, which begin Jan. 19.
