The North Jackson baseball team rolled to a win over a Jackson County rival on Monday.
The Chiefs picked up an 11-1 victory over visiting Pisgah Monday afternoon at Stevenson Park.
The game was called after six innings due to the mercy rule.
Brandon Poole and Tyler Henninger combined to pitch a one-hitter for North Jackson (5-1), the second one-hitter by the Chiefs pitching staff this season. John Matthews pitched a one-hitter against Plainview on Feb. 27.
Poole recorded seven strikeouts while allowing one hit and three walks over five innings for North Jackson while Henninger struck out the side in one inning pitched.
The Chiefs got hits from Matthews, Poole, Landon Barnes, Logan Morris and Cade Bellomy.
Scottsboro 9, Plainview 7 — At Rainsville, visiting Scottsboro pushed across two runs in the top of the ninth to get an extra-inning win over Plainview on Tuesday.
Scottsboro (2-2) took the lead on Ethan Clark’s RBI single and got an insurance run when Clark scored on a Plainview error.
The Wildcats trailed 3-1 after one inning but scored two runs in the second and three in the third to take 6-3 lead. Plainview got a run in the fourth, and after Scottsboro scored a run in the top of the fifth, the Bears countered with three in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game at 7-all.
Reed Latimer finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles for Scottsboro while Dalton Wood was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Ethan Wininger was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Christian Herberholz had two hits and Brody Hyde had one hit and two RBIs while Clark and Peyton Grant had one hit and one RBI each. Riley Bennett also singled. Hyde and Kyle Murphy scored two runs each.
Ethan Williams went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Tristan Willingham went 2-for-5 with one RBI for Plainview (2-3).
Bennett pitched four shut-out innings in relief on the mound for Scottsboro and got the win. He recorded seven strikeouts while allowing only two hits and two walks. Starter Tanner Barclay struck out six over four innings.
Pisgah 14, Ider 1 — At Pisgah, the Eagles posted a season-high run total in a mercy-rule shortened five-inning victory over Ider on Tuesday.
Nick Feltman hit a grand slam and Wyatt Whisenant and Ridge Medlock both went 2-for-3 for Pisgah (2-1) while Kristian Wheeler, Tyler Bell, Steven Wheeler, Kade Griffith, Bryant Overdear and John Barrett had one hit each.
Whisenant and Feltman combined on a two-hitter on the mound. Whisenant, the winning pitcher, struck out five over 3 1/3 innings while Feltman struck out three over 1 2/3 innings.
DAR 10, Section 6 — At Section, DAR scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take control and hand the Lions their first loss of the season Tuesday.
Section (1-1) took a 3-2 lead after one inning and the game was tied 4-all after three innings before the Patriots got a run in the fourth and five in the sixth to take a 10-4 lead.
Wiley McCutchen finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Section while Jacob Gentry doubled and drove in three runs. Trevier Porter (two runs) and Cole Woods had RBI singles and Jonathan Carroll (two runs) had one hit.
Pleasant Valley 8, North Jackson 7 — At New Hope, the Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season Saturday.
North Jackson fell behind 6-1 after three innings before charging back with six runs in the final two innings.
Cade Bellomy went 2-for-4 for the Chiefs and Logan Morris had one hit and two RBIs while Jordan Eakin had an RBI double and Brandon Poole had an RBI single. John Matthews (two runs) and Jordan Cooper had one hit each.
