The Pisgah girls basketball program is returning to its home away from home — Jacksonville State University’s Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The defending Class 3A state champion and top-ranked Eagles defeated visiting Pleasant Valley 77-39 in a Class 3A Northeast Sub-regional on Monday. The win secured Pisgah’s record 20th Northeast Regional appearance. 

Pisgah (30-1) plays No. 8 Susan Moore in the regional semifinals Monday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.

The Eagles made quick work of Pleasant Valley, racing in front 26-5 after one quarter. Pisgah led 44-11 at halftime and 64-24 after three quarters.

Auburn signee Annie Hughes totaled 15 points, three assists and two steals for the Eagles while Chloe Womack had 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and five steals. Pisgah also got 12 points, nine rebounds and three assists from Molly Heard, 11 points from Bailey Law and eight points and three steals from Madison Myers. Emma Hood scored 11 points and Kamryn Sparks added 10 for Pleasant Valley 18-13). 

Class 1A

Skyline 76, Oakwood Adventist 56 — At Skyline, the No. 3-ranked Vikings secured their third straight Northeast Regional Tournament appearance and sixth in eight years with Monday’s Class 1A Northeast Sub-regional victory.

Skyline (26-5) plays No. 5 Talladega County Central in the Northeast Regional semifinals tonight at 6 p.m. at Jacksonville State University’s Pate Mathews Coliseum.

Against Oakwood Adventist, Skyline built a 28-16 lead after one quarter and was in front 47-31 at halftime and 64-45 after three quarters.

Caity Ledwell and Baylee Usrey scored 24 points each for the Vikings while Madison Smith netted 10, Gracie Stucky eight and Aidan Bellomy six.

Leading scorers for Oakwood Adventist (10-12) were Ardisa Labosierre with 16, Jayda Caldwell with 15 and Ashley Fountain with 12.

Class 4A

Fairview 69, North Jackson 57 — At Stevenson, North Jackson’s season came to a close with a sub-regional loss to visiting Fairview.

North Jackson trailed 19-14, 34-28 and 54-39 at the quarter breaks.

Sarah Morgan scored 18 points, Josie Thompson netted 17 and Amber Atkins added nine for North Jackson, which finished 17-14 and won a second straight area tournament championship.

Molly McKelvy scored 20 points and Daisy Menasco added 12 for Fairview (18-10), which advanced to play Cherokee County in the Northeast Regional semifinals on Feb. 19.

Class 2A

Sand Rock 60, NSM 41 — At Sand Rock, North Sand Mountain’s season came to a close with a sub-regional loss to No. 1-ranked Sand Rock.

NSM (13-15) trailed 17-6 and was within 28-20 at halftime, but Sand Rock (30-2) outscored the Bison 16-7 in the third quarter to pull away.

Jaden Leak scored 11 points and Alexis Leake added nine for NSM while Ariana Christopher netted six and Kaitlyn Davis had five.

Shelton State signee Kirby DeBoard scored 18 points while Kynleigh Chestnut and Caley Garrett had 14 each for Sand Rock, which ran its winning streak to 26games and plays Ranburne in the Northeast Regional on Friday.
