“I am very proud of our girls to make it to sub-state,” said Scottsboro girls golf coach Jonathan Haynes. “They have worked hard all year and came out and shot the best team score we have had all season. It is a very big accomplishment to make sub-state this year after graduating our No. 1 and No. 2 golfers last year.”
Meanwhile, the SHS boys posted a team score of 325 in the Class 5A Section 4 Boys Golf Tournament at Cherokee Ridge. The Wildcats finished behind champion Brooks (303), runner-up Russellville (309) and third-place Guntersville (316). All four teams advanced to play in the North 4 Sub-state Tournament at Turtle Point Country Club in Killen on Monday, May 7. The sub-state champion and runner-up as well as the top-two individual finishers not on the roster of the champion or runner-up teams advance to play in the AHSAA Golf Championship’s Class 5A State Tournament May 14-15 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail’s Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals.
